DIY Cupcake Tower

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

I love to make cupcakes, its my newest hobby, but I needed a cute way to display them. I began looking through my craft closest to see what I could find, that's when I found cake circles. Well at least that what I called them ( making cakes was my newest hobby last month, needless to say that didn't work). I had several sizes so I decided I use them to make my cupcake tower.
I used 3 different sizes of cake circles
a cake plate from Goodwill
2 candle holders from the Dollar Tree
Red paint+Primer Valspar Spray paint
3 sheets of cardstock
Super 77

First, I spray painted my glass candle holders and my cake plate.

Next, I sprayed my Super 77 on my cake circles and attached my card stock.

I did this for all 3 of my cake circles. I used an Xact-o knife to cut off the left over card stock.

Next I cut my leftover card stock into strips and hot glued them to the cake circles.
You could also use ribbon to cover the edge your cake circles, (it would probably be easier, too).

I stacked each on top of the other, make sure it's center, hot glue them into place and tida! Cupcake Tower!!

Happy Crafting!

Goodbye Rockets

Tuesday, July 23, 2013

So I really love DIY projects but I don't always have a lot of time to do them. So that's when I do what I call DIY on the Fly. I basically go to Pinterest and find a project I like that has a template and everything you need to create it,  then I put my own spin on it.

This is exactly what I did when I created David's farewell gifts for his summer camp friends. You can find the template here at Amanda's Parties to go!

I simply used my scrapbook creator to change the poof of smoke to say what I wanted it to say.The instructions also called for orange and yellow tissue paper as flames but I used orange card stock instead.
the original instructions called for Rolo's candy but I used Fruit Roll-ups. I hot glued it together and it was as simple as that!

 See, it's that simple!

Cars Party

Monday, July 22, 2013

David's Cars Party

My son, David, has been obsessed with Disney's Cars since he saw the first movie. He watched it so many times everyone in our house had it memorized, so we had a Cars Party for his 3rd birthday!

The Party began with a "Drive-In Movie", the feature presentation was Mater's Tales.  Each kiddo made a stop at the concession stand to pick out their snacks  for the movie and their pit passes. The kids watched the short flick, while we waited for the other guest to arrive.

The concession stand had Cars Juice, fresh popcorn and and cheese puffs.
When each guest visited a game station we placed a sticker on the back of their Pit Passes, then they visited Sarge's Surplus to pick out a prize (we took the of sweets part off).

After the other guest began to arrive we began our games stations. We games and activity areas set up all around the room.

Next the entertainment arrived.

Then we all took a stroll went to the Flo's V8 Cafe.
(sorry about the grainy pic) You can find the printable version here. Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Who can forget pictures with the stars of the movie.

We had a blast!!

I've been MIA, but I'm back!

Friday, July 19, 2013

I have been so super busy getting everything ready for Daniel's 1st birthday party that I haven't had many moments to spare. Can you forgive me? Don't fret I have some awesome content that will be coming up really soon.
I've also been busy with projects around the house seeing that Daniel's party will be in our backyard.

Here's a sneak peek at what I've been up to... in no exact order!

 Here's the baby!!

Yes, it has lights.

What are these for? I bet you can guess.

 Dyed macaroni

Ice cream in a bag. Yummy!

 cupcakes

 The roofers are here!

My sweet boys farewell treat for his summer camp buddies...  : (

 Letter for the big day.

My husband is so awesome. He made these shutters on the cheap! Less than $5 each!

 and now the shingles!

 More cupcakes....

 Hummm..

First day of summer camp. Yes!

Last day of summer camp...I cried...( my last day of freedom).
Even though it was only day camp, I sure missed this little guy.
Can't wait to kick it with him for the rest of the summer!!

See I have been busy!

(in the words of my Trey)
Peace out, homie!
