Are you busy creating custom handmade classroom Valentine's for 25 tiny tots? Yeah, me neither, we are all too busy for that! Well I'm THAT parent...sometimes. But you can be THAT parent too,but without ALL the work.

See guys, I am only THAT parent because someone else has made it soo easy for me. I'm pretty crafty but I'm also a bit of a procrastinator. D.I.Y. Cupcake Box

Saturday, January 24, 2015

I am always making cupcakes as gifts or for birthdays but finding something to put them in can be a problem. I began searching my pantry for something that I could use to carry my cupcakes. Then it happen, a cereal box literal fell on top of me. It was almost empty so I decided to use it.

What you need:
cereal box
scissors
2 pieces scrapbook paper
tape
duct tape

This is a DIY on the FLY project. I used common materials that most of us already have at home. Find more DIY on the FLY projects here.
Total time to complete: 17 minutes!

Cut a  square out of the top of your box  leaving a bit on each side.

Wrap the outside in duct tape for extra support

Measure  your scrapbook paper from the top of your overlap to the bottom edge of your box, then cut the paper into strips.

Tape the scrapbook paper to the edge of your overlap, crease the sides and tape the  other end of the scrapbook paper to the bottom of your box.

Cut the scrapbook paper along the creases, fold down the middle section.

Cut the flaps down shorter and tape.Repeat these steps for 3 remaining sides.
When you get to the final side, cut the flaps off flush with the sides and tape.

You can add some color by cutting a piece of scrapbook paper for the inside of the box.

Enjoy!!

Easy Calzone

Thursday, January 22, 2015

Here is an easy weekday meal. This meal takes a little longer then my typical recipes. To speed it up I'd cook my meat ahead of time.

Ingredients:
1 lb. ground turkey or sausage
1 box Hormel Pepperoni
1 package shredded cheese
1 roll refrigerated pizza dough
1 can pizza sauce
3 tablespoons butter (melted)
1 bell pepper
1 small onion
oregano(to taste)
garlic salt (to taste)
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
toothpicks

Sauté' onions and bell peppers in one teaspoon oil. Set aside.
Next brown sausage and drain.
In a bowl combine vegetables and sausage. Add 1/3 cup pizza sauce.

In a greased baking dish, roll out pizza dough and cover the middle with pizza sauce.
Cover sauce with cheese.
Next pour the meat mixture on top of the dough.
Carefully stretch the dough to fit around the meat mixture.
Use toothpicks to hold the pizza dough closed on the top and sides, if needed. Use toothpicks to close up any holes that may pop open.

in a bowl, melt butter and mix with oregano and garlic salt. Pour the mixture over the pizza dough.

This creates a soft buttery crust on the outside of the pizza. Yours should look similar to this.
Next bake according to dough instructions.
Yum!!

1 can Rotel tomatoes
2 cans of Chili Beans
4 to 6 slices Kraft sliced cheese

2. Next, lightly grease a baking dish. line baking dish with 1 tortilla. next pour the meat mixture on top of the tortilla, enough to cover the tortilla completely.

Here is a list of my top favorite money saving and time saving grocery apps!

Favado-This app has defiantly made MY life easier! This app matches the sales ad and coupons with the stores you select. It even includes links to each printable coupon. If its a newspaper coupon , it list the ad date and circular. This app also makes it easy for you to compare prices from different stores.

Snap by Groupon- This money saving app is managed by Groupon. Just buy the items listed and save. Some items may be redeemed more that once. Snap has some higher dollar rebates and even gives rebate on "any" brand in some cases. You may also get lucky with some bonus rebate offers, which are only offered to certain users. Once you reach $20 they will send you a check.

ibotta-  This is  the best and it also fun! This app works a lot like Snap. The great thing about ibotta is that you can build your team on social media and as a team earn extra rewards!  Once you've earned $10 you can cash out for an iTunes , Walmart, Amazon, Starbucks and many others gift cards!  Once you earn $20 cash out with Paypal or Venmo.

SavingsStar- The best thing about SavingStar is that you can use it at almost any store. Saving star now allows you to take a photo of your receipt to redeem your rebates. If you connect your store savings card to your account , your rebates will be added automatically.  Every weekend SavingStar   offers a free item.
